Over the last few months we’ve seen all manner of rumors and leaks pertaining to the Galaxy S III, Samsung’s next flagship phone that’s becoming infamous out of its sheer elusiveness. But the latest photo to claim legitimacy is the most promising that we’ve sen yet. The image below was spotted by a Reddit user, if it’s a fake, it’s a very impressive one. Two things jump out at us from what looks like a snapshot a of a presentation slide: one, this image isn’t obviously based on a previous Samsung PR shot. And two, it’s sporting the logo of Weber Shandwick, an American PR firm that represents Samsung’s mobile interests.

First, the good news. The mockup’s design and branding seems consistent with Samsung’s current trends, even if the black/grey ring around the front of the phone is a little surprising. The homescreen itself looks like an adapted version of the one found on the Galaxy Note, which is certainly possible if those 4.8-inch screen rumors are true. Take a look at the five shortcuts in the “dock” area – a feature found on both Ice Cream Sandwich and the Galaxy Note.

Some other features raise alarms. One, there appears to be a dedicated camera button on the right side (the profile image has the phone facing to the left). While we’d be thrilled to see a return to this features among mainstream phones, it seems unlikely. Two, the earpiece speaker appears to be on the bottom of the phone, below Samsung’s customary Home button. Barring some very strange ergonomics, this doesn’t seem altogether likely. There’s no mention of hardware specifications in the photo, but it certainly seems to indicate a big, high-res screen and a thickness somewhere in the 7mm range.

The dates on the slide indicate an announcement for May 22nd in London. We haven’t heard any news about such an event (and Samsung has made it clear that the Galaxy S III will get an event all to itself) but this far out that’s not a nail in the coffin for this rumor. For a phone with international aspirations, London would make sense. If the phone were announced in May that would give it a release sometime in June or July, and we’ve got no reason to doubt that.

This is a long way from any sort of confirmation, but it’s the best that we’ve seen thus far.

If you hadn’t already checked out the Samsung Galaxy Beam, it is Samsung’s first device that combines a pico projector into an Android smartphone. Though a mid-range device, it is sure to turn some heads. We’ve just found out that it should hit the UK this July for £385 ($600). It will initially launch unlocked, but we should see it show up on a few carriers to allow subsidized purchases.

As for specs, the Galaxy Beam’s lamp offers 15 lumens of brightness; this is actually low when compared to practically any other projector out there, but hey – this one’s built into your smartphone. It is also said to last 20,000 hours, so unless you plan on using it all day every day for the next 2.3 years it should be fine. The Beam ships with a 4″ TFT display, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), a 5MP rear shooter, and 1GHz dual-core processor.

This is definitely not a Galaxy S II performance-wise, but at least the projector will set it apart from the rest. To aid the extreme battery consumption of the it, Samsung included a 2000mAh battery. This should be sufficient to allow a quick projection here and there while still lasting you throughout the day. We’ll put it to the test for sure when we get one in to review, but until then check out our hands-on from MWC!

This is quite the interesting rumor. 9to5Google is reporting that Google is definitely working on previously-rumored HUD-enabled glasses. Think “Terminator” or “RoboCop” for an idea of what the HUD might look like.

The photo below is said to be close to what these Google glasses look like. It’s a pair of Oakleys THUMP MP3 glasses. Take those, apply steroids and you have what the source of this story is reporting.

The pair of glasses will apparently use the same transparent display technology that we saw Samsung and others show off at CES 2012. One lens will display everything to ensure your vision is not entirely clouded by whatever it is you’ll be looking at. The device will apparently use head gestures to navigate the operating system, which we hear is Android-based.

We’re sure Android will be heavily adapted for something of this nature but it’s unsure to what extent. I imagine reading email, text messages, social network updates and receiving phone calls will be some of the main functions featured on this so-called device. Imagine being able to see who’s trying to contact you without ever having to reach for your phone.

Imagine being able to take a call or respond to a text message without having to reach for your phone, too. Put a couple of microphones and a set of earphones like those seen above and you’ve got one of the coolest phones or phone accessories ever.

The device will reportedly house a camera, as well. We’re not sure what the primary use for it will be but it would be great to have a head camera to capture moments through my eyes. That camera will apparently be accompanied by a flash so we can at least assume still shots will be a possibility.

All of this is said to be in the works and to be unveiled soon, though it’s not yet known how Google will handle a launch. Since this product isn’t something that most people would keep their eye on (no pun intended) it could be a mistake for Google to mass produce these for retail. Instead, 9to5 suggests they’ll make them available through a program similar to the CR-48 Chromebook trials.

I would personally love to have something like this. I wear prescription glasses but I wouldn’t mind throwing these on over those for the functionality alone, as silly as it may look. If anything, just owning it would be enough to appease my geeky needs.

Do you remember long ago when Apple went ahead and held out from releasing an iPhone 5 – and just went along with the 4S instead? We could see a similar strategy from Samsung concerning the future of their ‘Galaxy’ flagship device. It has recently come to our attention that Samsung won’t be showing off the GSIII at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain – thus makes perfect sense there may be a middle man underway.

A Galaxy S II Plus benchmark has been logged in the An3DBenchXL database, and fits our specifications of what this device could carry. The data shows it running Android 2.3.4 with a 1.5GHz processor, and WVGA display. It could very well be running the same processor as the Note.

To refresh your memory, there was indeed a Samsung Galaxy S Plus, so it makes sense to have a Galaxy S II Plus. The line has been practically flawless, and moved Android’s reputation in a very positive direction – so why change now? Most of our questions will probably be solved at MWC, but until then – we run on leaked data and speculation.

Some new details and rumors are starting to hit the streets regarding not only the highly anticipated Galaxy Note, but of two other Android devices all headed to AT&T. We have now learned of a leaked Q1 2012 roadmap of AT&T’s smartphone devices and of them is the Galaxy Note hitting the streets February 18th for just $299 on contract.

According to some leaked information to the folks at BGR AT&T will in fact have three Android devices they are launching to start off 2012. Along with the 5.3″ Galaxy Note we are now hearing there will be a few budget and mid-range devices such as the Samsung Rugby Smart on the low end for $99, and the AT&T Fusion for a mere $129 with new contracts.

Recent press images that leaked of the AT&T 4G LTE powered Galaxy Note hinted at a February 14th launch date based on the on-screen widgets but these new leaks suggest the wait will only be a few more days. Being able to get the powerful and almost tablet sized Note with 4G LTE for only $299 sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If you’ve been waiting for this phone then relax, the wait is almost over.

As soon as we hear anything that confirms the details we’ll be sure to update, not to mention digging for more details on the Rugby Smart and Fusion.

Coming to AT&T soon is the Samsung Galaxy Note that we’ve all seen plenty of lately. AT&T will be selling this 5.3″ AMOLED HD packing smartphone in both black and white variants. While roaming at CES we were able to get a few quick pictures and video of the white version of the AT&T branded LTE Note for those interested. Check out more pictures after the break.

If you didn’t have a clear idea of the sheer size of this smartphone/tablet hybrid that picture above should settle any last thoughts you may have had. It’s large, very large. The AT&T Galaxy Note will be rocking their 4G LTE and come with a 1280 x 800 resolution 5.3″ Super AMOLED HD display. A 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and that awesome little stylus they are calling the smart pen. You all should know plenty about the Note by now so instead I’ll let you enjoy the photos we snapped real quick.

The obsession with white colored phones is continuing strong here in 2012 with Samsung unveiling this, the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy Tab lineup all with white models coming soon. Pictures and details on all of those are available from our timeline below. Our sister site SlashGear already reviewed this awesome device, only the GSM international version instead of an LTE one. We’ll be sure to get this phone in for a full review as soon as it hits the shelves at AT&T. In the meantime enjoy all the photos from our gallery below and check out the full review via SlashGear for more details on this huge device.

As soon as AT&T announces an official release date we’ll be sure to update with all the details.

Last week at CES Samsung pulled the wraps off of their 5.3″ Galaxy Note and informed the world it was headed to AT&T. After the initial announcement we saw many comments regarding whether or not this phone-tablet hybrid smartphone would hit other carriers in the US. While nothing has been confirmed yet we are now hearing reports that it will land on Verizon, and maybe even follow the Galaxy Nexus over on the Now Network and their new 4G LTE rolling out this year.

With no announcement from Samsung or any other carriers other than AT&T we don’t have any clear details as to if we’ll see this device land elsewhere. We have however seen a few similar models appear in some Bluetooth and WiFi certification documents suggesting more models are incoming to the states. Today the Examiner is reporting a highly trusted industry analyst has confirmed that Verizon will definetaly be getting the Note — possible called the Samsung Galaxy Journal.

According to these statements the 3 major carriers that are, or will be offering 4G LTE in the USA this year will all get a variant of the 5.3″ Super AMOLED HD packing Galaxy Note device. So basically everyone but T-Mobile according to this analyst, but anything is possible. Not only is the device incoming, but it should be here within the first half of the year.

The name “Galaxy Journal” actually makes a lot of sense — We like it.

There’s a whole new Motorola RAZR in town, and those of you that’ve already picked up the old one should know this: the release date has been tipped to us for the RAZR MAXX to be the 26th of January, 2012. This sits well with the perhaps accidentally dropped date (also the 26th shown on the Motorola site earlier this week (and subsequently taken down), this leading us to believe that, barring any newly discovered mishaps before then, we can expect a bigger and bolder RAZR in our very near future.

motorola droid razr maxx

This device is a dual-core “RAZR thin” 4G LTE Android device being carried by Verizon and its release has come so close to the release of the original DROID RAZR that it’s almost as if they realized that the battery was too small and didn’t have time to change it in the first place. That or it just made more sense to release one of the world’s thinnest smartphones in its original ultra-thin form factor first to gain some press attention that it otherwise may note have gotten, then essentially silently release the MAXX which is the same, but a bit thicker because of its bigger battery.

Either way, it’s happening, and we’ve got a hands-on look with the device so that you can tell how nice it looks whilst held in a hand. This device was released alongside the DROID 4 as well, if you did not know, and we’ve got a hands-on experience of that for you now as well. These devices were released at CES 2012, and we got a chance to look at them inside Pepcom.
