With Mobile World Congress 2012 soon approaching the invites and press releases keep rolling in. LG has just sent out a few that are saying they will be showing a “revolutionary smartphone for 2012″ that is peaking our interest to say the least. Most likely they are talking about the recently teased Optimus Vu 5″ smartphone linked below but that might not be all.

We’ve already seen or heard reports of 3 new smartphones from LG that all will be bringing something different to the table (All linked below). It almost seems as if they are putting things out there hoping to see what sticks. First off is the most recent and interesting. The LG Optimus Vu 5″ 4:3 aspect ratio phone that is directly aiming at the Galaxy Note from Samsung.

Then we have the leaked LG X3 that will be replacing the T-Mobile G2x and will most likely be LG’s first NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core smartphone. Reported to rock a 4.7″ HD screen, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and of course that quad-core processor. All specs we are hoping to see plenty of in the coming weeks and months from most manufacturers — although phones are starting to get too large if you ask me.

Last is the one I’m least interested in. That is the LG Optimus 3D 2 (C2X) or whatever you want to call it. Being a successor to the mildly entertaining LG Thrill 4G (aka Optimus 3D) smartphone with dual 5 megapixel cameras and a glasses-free 3D display. It shouldn’t be much different from the original but have a better screen and maybe a little thinner. I’m not sold on 3D in smartphones and I don’t think I ever will be, but we’ll see.

I’m most excited to see what they have in store with the X3 quad-core phone as that is the next frontier for Android smartphones and a step many will be taking this next few months as we get ready for the summer smartphone push. Again we’ll be live at in Spain for all the details so be sure and follow us and check ourMWC 2012 portal often.

LG is back with another 4G LTE phone for Verizon Wireless with their new LG Spectrum. This phone is basically the follow up to the mildly successful LG Revolution but this time around it boasts some impressive specs that should help the phone make its way into buyers hands. With a bright and crisp 1280 x 720p 4.5″ display and LTE this phone deserves a second look.

The Spectrum is available today online and in stores at Verizon and can be had for only $199. I’m glad to see LG and Verizon offering an impressive 4G LTE smartphone for such a low price because this $249-$299 level we’ve been seeing seems a bit much if you ask me. This is one of the best price/performance phones available at the moment and the specs are by no means mid-range.

The LG Spectrum offers an HD 1280 x 720p 4.50-inch IPS display, a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an 8 megapixel camera and Verizon 4G LTE. Pretty stacked smartphone with all the top end specs we’ve come to love. They’ve tossed in an 1,830 mAh battery that should last plenty long too. The phone is available right now at Verizon for $199 with a new 2-year contract. Hit the source link below to get started today.

LG and PRADA have teamed up again for what they are officially calling PRADA Phone by LG 3.0 and we have some hands-on video of the new fashionable smartphone. During an event in London today we learned the full details and were able to fondle the phone for a brief moment and from initial impressions it’s very sleek, thin, lightweight, and sexy.

The PRADA Phone was shown off earlier this morning and has been leaked a few times in the recent past being called the Prada K2. Today we put on our favorite wool scarf and attended the official event to enjoy this new and fancy 4.3″ Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone. Here’s our video to get you started.

PRADA Phone by LG 3.0 hands-on

The PRADA 3.0 is obviously the 3rd device to carry the branding but this time around we have Android to liven things up. It’s tall, sleek, and slim but rocks some impressive specs and a brilliantly bright 4.3″ NOVA display — although sadly just 800 x 480 and no HD screen like the recently released LG Nitro HD.

Powered by Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and a 1.0 GHz dual-core processor we also get 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a few powerful cameras to capture that perfect moment — or some nice shoes. Offering an 8 megapixel shooter on the back and 1.3 up front for video chat. The rear has a leather-like soft touch plastic backing that should hold up longer than genuine leather — but the idea did cross their minds. Performance is smooth and swift as you can see from the video although the custom interface changes are a bit odd to say the least.

The new PRADA is extremely thin and has a pretty blocky design, very similar to the recently released Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone. It does have a few neat features like the round power/wake button with an illuminating LED ring. We also have circular stereo speakers down on the bottom to keep things stylish.

LG has promised Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for their lineup although this phone may be heading in a different direction, but we do expect an update at some point from LG and PRADA. Let us know what you think and enjoy a few photos below.

There’s something about device information leaks that gets everybody’s engine going, and certainly there’s no greater time to get a new tank of gas than right before the year’s biggest event, CES 2012 – LG and Intel know this to be true, and are denying any an all claims that they are shaking hands for a Medfield device come Spring. What we’re hearing from the Korean Times, on the other hand, is that they’ve got confirmation from “high ranking executives” from both LG and Intel saying that LG will produce the first market-ready Intel-toting smartphone with Android for a March release. More than likely we’ll be seeing something along the lines of a smartphone or two running the Medfield SoC, LG or not, come early January.

We’ll be there to tell you what’s going on right as it happens at CES 2012 starting on January 9th, straight from the Las Vegas Convention Center. It’s there that all the sweet news will originate from, and its there that we’ll certainly get confirmation or denial in its grandest form, right there on the show floor. That said, this isn’t the first time the duo have tried to bring such a product to the market, the last time being CES 2011 with a smartphone that didn’t quite reach customers hands. What’s happening now is that some reported sources in both LG and Intel have confirmed a new device, while others have denied.

This year it’s looking much more likely, one way or another, as we’ve already seen reference devices in both smartphone and tablet form running Intel’s Medfield chip. Last year Intel had Moorestown and as Jen-Hsun Huang mentioned, NVIDIA basically stole the show away from them in 2011. Will we see more like these reference devices in real market-ready form at CES, made by LG? Sources say yes, indeed.
